About the BCG
Founded in 1963, Boston Consulting Group, Inc. (BCG) is a Boston, Massachusetts-based American global management consulting organization. Along with McKinsey & Company and Bain & Company, it is one of the “Big Three” (MBB), or the three largest management consulting companies in the world based on revenue. The consulting has been run by German executive Christoph Schweizer since 2021.
As a division of The Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Company, the company was established in 1963. In order to create a consulting division that would function as a subsidiary of the Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Company, Arthur D. Little hired Bruce Henderson. At first, the division simply provided advice to bank clients, and the first month’s invoicing was merely $500 USD. In December 1963, Henderson engaged Arthur P. Contas as his second consultant. BCG established a second office in Tokyo, Japan, in 1966.
In 1967, Henderson met Bill Bain and offered him a role at the firm. Bain agreed and joined in 1967 at a starting salary of $17,000 per year. In the early 1970s, Bain was considered internally to be Henderson’s eventual successor. However, in 1973 Bain resigned from BCG to start his own strategy consulting firm, Bain & Company, hiring away six of BCG’s employees.
In 1974, Henderson arranged an employee stock ownership plan so that the employees could make the company independent from The Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Company. The buyout of all shares was completed in 1979.
In the 1980s, BCG introduced the concept of time-based competition that reconsidered the role of time management in providing market advantages. The concept was the subject of an essay in the Harvard Business Review.

Role and Responsibility for Data Analyst Internship
- As a Data & Analytics team member, you will report to the Digital Collaboration and Personal Productivity tribes. You will support data analytics and machine learning-driven innovations.
- The role will require working across multiple squads and engaging different stakeholders to provide insights for data-driven decision-making on wide-ranging use cases.
- The ideal candidate will ensure that our Data & Analytics team aligns with the business objectives and supports key initiatives for the squads and tribe.
- The role must leverage the latest technology and best practices to deliver results, agility, efficiency, and quality for data and visualization requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
Basic coding skills in Python and willingness to code using ML libraries like Scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, etc.
Understanding of both supervised and unsupervised machine learning. A basic understanding of clustering algorithms (like KMEANS, DBSCAN) and tree-based algorithms (like Random Forest, CatBoost, and AdaBoost) is a plus.
Research and develop statistical learning models for data analysis, correlation, perform A/B testing, etc.
Familiar with NLP techniques including topic modelling, tokenization, vectorization, etc.
Familiar with basic code management principles and experience with any tool such as Git, Mercurial, or Bitbucket.
Communicate results and ideas to key decision-makers
